However, I can tell you this...being a single working widowed mom, I don't have time to figure out a costume!! I'm lucky I had the hour to get to the Halloween store and pick out costumes for my kids. Widowchick's idea of going to the thrift stores is great though...I wish I'd thought of it when my kids were little (although I did use hand-me-down costumes from friends). My kids are teens now and all they do is throw on a hat and go get the candy. One more thing I don't have to worry about (although as we all know teens come with different problems!!)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1410599077591449670.post-43817030670813717152011-10-16T10:23:42.521-06:002011-10-16T10:23:42.521-06:00Linds...I think next year I'm going to hand th...Linds...I think next year I'm going to hand then each $5 and take them to the craft store and Good Will and see what they come up with!!Widow Chickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15830496557976820633noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1410599077591449670.post-75541952192364294172011-10-16T05:56:21.136-06:002011-10-16T05:56:21.136-06:00Oh Cath! C and I were always a bit jealous. ;) I had no idea that you only escaped that fate by being so clever. As a kindy teacher, I know that kids love a good challenge- so try challenging them to a costume making contest this year- see what they come up with from stuff they find in the house. Happy Halloween.
P.S. Southern California Halloween is even worse than the pics you showed. You are lucky to be in the middle of the country!
LindsayAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1410599077591449670.post-8598882588313856822011-10-15T19:26:04.328-06:002011-10-15T19:26:04.328-06:00I hear ya cluckin' big chicken. She is being one of the "Monster High" characters, which I'm not thrilled about, but at least she didn't want to be a police woman or a nurse!Tiff Gnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1410599077591449670.post-29902082796870019862011-10-15T18:08:21.108-06:002011-10-15T18:08:21.108-06:00So very true and so very sad. Using your imagination to come up with a costume weeks in advance was part of the fun...Now it is non-existant, everything must be "purchased". What a shame. Great article.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
